Job Overview

• To provide top-notch maintenance on CNC machines and automated saws by inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting parts and components.

• Troubleshoot and maintain critical facility support equipment such as cranes, building air compressors, emergency generators, and supporting equipment.

Position Function

• Identify equipment malfunctions and take appropriate corrective action using Total Productive Maintenance principles.

• Troubleshoot breakdowns using equipment schematics.

• Utilize equipment manuals and testers for validating electronic repairs.

• Handle all preventive and necessary maintenance as instructed.

• Participate in safety, production, quality, and staff meetings.

• Maintain constant housekeeping practices consistent with 5S principles.

Tools and Equipment

• Equipment Manuals, voltmeters, and calipers.

• Drill press, power saw, chain fall, burning and welding equipment, portable drill and grinder, ladder, bending, threading, cut-off machines, miscellaneous hand tools and measuring devices, welding fixtures, shield and guards, etc.

Role and Responsibilities

• Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done.

• Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) on equipment. Inspects equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrications, etc.

• Inspects cranes, and auxiliary facilities for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc.

• Drive repairs to root-cause and implement effective countermeasures. Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.

• Advises when immediate shut-down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will not have harmful effect.

• Adjusts equipment for proper operating characteristics.

• Assembles and aligns gears, bearings, and shafts, involving the application of press, sliding, and running fits.

• Operates simple machine tools such as drill press, pipe-threading machine power saw, etc. Performs simple pipefitting as required.

• Complete assigned workorders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System CMMS

• Track and Manage workorder requirements such as parts ordering, PM completion and breakdown analysis in the CMMS.

• Performs simple rigging as necessary.

• Changes, sets up and adjusts equipment as required by current operating conditions.

• Works with repair crews as directed on emergency breakdowns.

• Performs buring and limited welding required for normal repair and maintenance functions of the job, limited pipefitting and assist Electricians in disconnecting electrical leads in the maintenance of cranes.

• Operates cranes and mobile equipment as necessary while performing maintenance and repair functions.

• Assists other maintenance or operating personnel in repair work as required.

• Operates cranes, machinery, mobile equipment, and hydraulic lifts; performs necessary rigging duties in connection with the servicing of mechanical equipment.

Qualifications

• Possess 3-5 years’ experience in maintaining equipment in a manufacturing environment.

• High School diploma or GED required.

• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting relay-based machinery.

• PLC experience a plus.

• Solid foundation of reading and understanding electronic and pneumatic schematics.

• Prior experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System CMMS is desirable.

• Prior maintenance experience with CNC machinery is helpful.

Physical / Work Environment Requirements

• Frequently lifts items weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Anything over 50 pounds may require assistance.
