Responsibilities:

The Mainframe Capacity and Performance Team (MCAP) provides performance analysis to applications during Integration testing to determine if it is ready for production based on historical and projected resource (CPU and Memory) usage. Large SSA Applications are tested with in-depth analysis to determine the risk of releasing inefficient application code versus sending it back to developers for more efficient production cod. In addition, the team performs industry-leading mainframe SMF/RMF data collection support for problem determination, along with analysis of workload/workflow, stress testing, and storage subsystems. Currently, MCAP is working with many groups supporting data replication and DR systems configuration support, and tasks related to onsite, offsite, and hybrid cloud solutions (BMC TSCO’s Oracle DB), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Accenture EPS Pivotor Performance Reporting System, IBM/ IntelliMagic’ s Operations Analytics, and systems modernization efforts, including Agile development methods.

Duties
  • Perform real-time Sysplex/CEC performance monitoring with documented root cause analysis including diagnosis of system and application bottlenecks.
  • Propose, schedule and conduct proactive tuning recommendations to streamline the throughput of mainframe workloads while maintaining system stability.
  • Monitor system performance quickly in response to various request types.
  • Conduct performance testing analysis of end-to-end system and program product upgrades.
  • Conduct performance analysis of various SSA and Interagency business application testing.
  • Identify production workload profile changes, summarize, and communicate to management for further analysis and planning.
  • Conduct after-hours support for the performance problem-determination issues and activities.
  • Participate in various mainframe strategic initiatives with peer groups and business unit representatives including Proof of concept and SSA strategic tests and recommendations.
  • Determine performance recommendations to provide optimal application throughput and system availability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience.
  • General knowledge of Websphere Servers/ Servants
  • Experience using RMF3, MICS and/or MXG, and Omegamon required
  • Experience using lntelliMagic Vision is highly preferred
  • Ability to assist with the implementation of corporate strategies for new technology
  • Ability to assist with the development of corporate technology standards
  • General knowledge of Mainframe CICS and WMQ software infrastructure
  • Experience evaluating and recommending changes to current and future system software requirements
  • Ability to consult on Engagement Model based on 5 critical phases: Scope, Design, Build, Deploy, Evolve
  • Experience with Quality Assurance Requirements for new software and technology
  • Experience with Capacity Management and Performance Management processes
  • Experience using MS Office, and proficiency with Excel, SAS, MICS

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • 10 years technically related experience
  • Experience with Windows 2016 (or newer), Active Directory, SQL, Windows 11, Dragon, ZoomText, and Jaws
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking knowledge and support experience with emphasis on Dragon scripting and commands

Work Location & Work Schedule:

  • Should expect occasional off hours or weekend scheduled work.
  • Work location is in Baltimore, MD and should expect a hybrid of 2-3 days on site with remained telecommuting.
  • Currently, daily work is full time remote with occasional trips into Baltimore when hands-on configuration or support is required.
  • Badging and equipment pick-up/exchange/return is on site.
  • Client has the right to remove telecommuting as an option.
