Job description
To provide direct occupational therapy services for students with special education needs and coordinate individual programs with students, staff, administrators and parents. Responsibilities-Evaluate and assess students referred for special education eligibility determination.-Develop and implement effective programs of intervention for students with special education needs.-Develop IEP goals, benchmarks and assessment methods to monitor a student's progress in the education area identified requiring intervention.-Work collaboratively with all building liaisons, principals and teachers to determine eligibility, need for level, and /or continuation of occupational therapy service.-Carefully monitor student progress toward achievement of goals, and effectively communicate to the TEAM termination of services where appropriate.-Develop programs for efficiently delivering occupational therapy services and managing available resources.-Keep thorough and confidential records for the individual students receiving occupational therapy.-Consult with parents classroom teachers, and other staff as needed.-Participate at team meetings where students have been recommended for or are currently receiving occupational therapy services. Provide clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants(s)-Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools designee.Qualifications-Hold appropriate license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Health Professionals as an Occupational Therapist.-A Master's Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy or related field.-Experience in delivering occupational therapy services in the public school setting.-Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, educational experience, school level involvement and/or system wide professional activities and the interview process.Supplemental InformationThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
