Responsible for a variety of general labor, skilled tasks, and documentation related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater treatment equipment/facility. Responsible for collection of periodic process samples and performing required analysis/testing on the collected samples. This individual has the lead responsibility for others doing like work, including workflow, training, and answering job-related questions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all areas of the plant to ensure that maintenance projects are completed, and the system is working properly
• Must complete mandated documentation/reporting for state and federal government agencies and Seneca’s corporate office in a timely manner
• Propose and manage annual budget for wastewater treatment plant
• Must record and complete all daily, monthly, and periodic maintenance according to a schedule of maintenance as outlined in the operations and maintenance manual completed and delivered prior to start-up
• Must calculate capacities of reservoirs, pipes flow rates, horsepower, and other related math calculations.
• Collect periodic process water samples and perform required analysis/testing
• Ensure thorough cleanliness of all the facilities, including the laboratory, the sample station etc
• Completing documentation including daily operating reports, daily flow sheets, maintenance checklists, equipment operating logs, laboratory records, and monthly and annual reports which also includes reporting (monthly or periodically) to the Seneca regarding operating procedures and budget issues.
• Maintain a workable/standardized file system for all documentation.
• Communicate with supervisor, co-workers, subordinates, technicians, contractors, and engineers
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years in wastewater management as an operator
• Wastewater level 1 certification obtained
• Preferred to have completed State certifications or will attain any State required certifications
• Willingness and ability to follow established federal and state safety and operating procedures
• Experience with developing and managing budgets related to the wastewater treatment plant
• Able to make decisions independently, while following local laws and regulations
• Possess strong problem-solving skills, where there is limited supervision and standardization.
• Able to operate equipment and/or tools used for buildings, grounds, and system maintenance
• Be physically able and mentally willing to climb in and out of facilities using built-in and/or portable external ladders
• Possess the ability to work in tight, confined spaces understanding the risks and proper safety procedures to do so
• Must have good attention to detail and accuracy
• Willingness and ability to work and function in a team environment and independently
• Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally
• Ability to work with all levels of the organization
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Basic computer and math skills (algebra and geometry)
• Ability to stand and climb several stairs
• Ability to push, pull, and lift 45 pounds
