Job description
Responsible for the efficient and effective operation of building heating/cooling generation and Central Utility Plant (CUP) infrastructure including: boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, vacuum, medical and mechanical air pumps, air driers and associated CUP equipment. In addition to performing work as an Operating Engineer, the Lead Operator monitors day-to-day activities of Central Utility Plant to ensure quality, productivity and customer service standards are being achieved. Provides or supports coaching and instruction as needed. Identifies and escalates issues as needed.Ensures safety work rules and protocols are upheld in day-to-day operations. Provides input to Supervisor on personnel actions including performance management, counseling, training and compensation. Supports and communicates and explains policies and procedures to staff. Helps develop and implement policies and procedures as well as train staff on policies and procedures.
