Job Summary

Conduct research to help understand and enhance the development of new laser-based sensors for measurements that are not currently possible in combustion, industrial, and environmental systems, and application of laser sensor technologies to develop new understanding of and actively improve these systems. This position is responsible for entry level project support, including assisting with building and testing dual comb laser systems for multiple research projects.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Materials inventory.
  • Fabrication of, lab experiments with, and testing of dual comb laser systems.
  • Data monitoring and analysis.
  • Report writing.

What We Can Offer

  • The hire rate for this position will be $22.00 per hour.
  • Eligible to work 9 months in a 12-month period or 12 months in an 18-month period.
  • Eligible for Sick Leave accrual. Ineligible for other benefits or vacation leave.

Benefits

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require

  • Ability to work on teams assigned to multiple projects.
  • Basic knowledge of lasers and fiber/optics.
  • Understanding of data analysis.

What You Will Need

  • Component and system design/fabrication experience.
  • Mechanical engineering background.
  • Basic machining skills.
  • Ability to be self-driven and reliable.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Laser experience is a plus but not required.
