Job description

The Lab Analyst 2 performs a wide variety of laboratory tests on raw materials, in process samples, finished products, chemicals, using different equipment.

  • Maintain ISO / EFFCI requirements and certifications.
  • Perform all routine qualitative and quantitative analyses, from simple to very complex
  • Examine critically test results, entry data into JD Edwards.
  • Examine critically test results from Lab Analysts, entry data into JD Edwards
  • In collaboration with Senior Quality Control Specialist, perform calibrations and standardizations of the Quality Control Laboratory equipment and methods
  • In collaboration with Senior Quality Control Specialist, comply with standard laboratory procedures to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the laboratory instruments, titrating solutions, reagents, standards
  • In collaboration with Senior Quality Control Specialist, maintain the housekeeping of the Quality Control Laboratory
  • Participate in and successfully complete all required laboratory training classes
  • Understand and comply with all general safety and environmental requirements for the laboratory and additional specific requirements as contained in the standard methods or in special instructions
  • Review literature related to the general techniques used in the Quality Control Laboratory
  • Learn all of the specific laboratory methods and standard operating procedures outlined by the QC Lab Quality Control Manual
  • Work rotating shift schedules, as required
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Associates degree in a scientific field is the minimum requirement with at least 1 year previous experience in a related position
  • BS degree in a scientific field such as Chemistry is preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Strong oral and written English language skills are required.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, and/ or peers
  • The ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • High Level of Math skills is required. These skills are consistent with those required for completion of an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field such as: Chemistry or Biology.
  • The ability to apply advanced mathematical and statistical concepts
  • The ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.

REASONING ABILITY

  • High level of reasoning ability is required. Those consistent with completion of an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field, such as: Chemistry or Biology.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities, sequence activities for optimum performance
  • Must have strong organizational and administrative skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds are required. Corrected visual acuity to 20/20 is necessary. Excellent clerical perception is required.
  • Be able to hear and respond to alarms in the plant or laboratory
  • Be able to smell and detect chemical odors
  • Be available for irregular shift hours and frequent call-ins or callbacks
  • Remain constantly mentally alert
  • Be able to wear a respirator as needed

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Typically work in a Laboratory setting but may be assigned more physical duties such as transporting office supplies and equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, odors, dusts, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
