Here is your chance to show your data analysis, visual management and reporting for results skills. Come join the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) Office of Human Resources (OHR) IT Unit. In this role, you will help identify the needs for OHR data to be used agency wide in support of agencies goals. As a Management Analyst 5 (MA5) in the OHR IT Unit you will have a direct impact to the operational success of OHR and its’ programs, which increases the value of L&I’s services to its customers by improving the effectiveness and efficiency in which the agency can understand and make improvements based on human resource data. The OHR IT Unit is a dynamic and innovative team, supported by an inclusive and fun culture responsible for supporting OHR.

Duties

Some of what you’ll do:

  • Compile, analyze, and create visual reports and dashboards for the agency using OHR data.
  • Review highly complex data sets and provide expert advice, consultation, and recommendations.
  • Responsible for developing visual management systems using software such as Mural, Monday.com, and Power BI
  • Able to balance multiple competing priorities and clarifies priorities with leaders.
  • Advise, consult, and prepare complex reports, presentations, and communication tools.
  • Manages OHR’s intake process: adds new opportunities, consults with requestors about requests and timelines.
  • Using expert knowledge of visual management, develop tools and resources to present data in a user-friendly way.
  • Develop partnerships throughout OHR and L&I to create, maintain, and host visual management and performance measurement projects.
  • Create and execute a formal training program for the OHR IT Unit that can be used to train current and future members of the team.
  • Train the OHR IT Unit on:
  • Best practices for data gathering and analysis.
  • Use of visual management systems such as Mural, Monday.com, and Power BI.
  • Reporting capabilities of visual management systems and data reporting best practices.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, law, public health, health administration, or related field OR year for year equivalent experience
AND

Five years of demonstrated experience in two or more of the following areas

  • Using analytical problem-solving methods
  • Compiling, analyzing complex data and making recommendations to leadership about findings
  • Conducting research
  • Professional work experience, at an expert level, developing performance measures, including databases and visual management dashboards, through the use of PowerBI, or requisite database construction.
  • Communicating complex information clearly and succinctly for a variety of audiences, settings, and styles, orally and in written formats

Demonstrated ability to align with agency core competencies: Safety, Customer-Centered Actions, Treats Others with Respect and Curtesy, Accountability and Dependability, Judgment and Problem Solving

DESIRED:

  • Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, organization development, organizational psychology, operations research, or similar field.
  • Project Management coordinator certificate/certification
  • Organizational Change Management experience or certification

For this position, telework is permitted full time. The assigned duty station for this position is within Washington State. With supervisor approval and location availability this position is allowed to work from any L&I Office location state wide or a hybrid of telework and in office.
