Position Overview

As a Kubernetes Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing secure and resilient Kubernetes environments for our application teams. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our platform is easy to use, reliable, and resistant to disruptions. By incorporating techniques such as chaos engineering and API fuzzing, you will help improve the overall security and stability of our Kubernetes clusters. You will ensure that the platform enables application developers to deliver value while exceeding customer needs for stability and security.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Selection of container engines and container orchestration platforms and DevSecOps tools, to include trade studies.
  • Installation, configuration, testing, and sustainment of container orchestration platforms and DevSecOps tools.
  • Integration and automation of the container orchestration platforms and DevSecOps tools to enable CI/CD.
  • Building security into the container orchestration platforms and DevSecOps pipelines through automation of security controls.
  • Defining the process and procedures for utilizing the container orchestration platforms and DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Maintenance of the container orchestration platforms and DevSecOps pipelines to ensure availability to the software developers.
  • Rapid resolution of container orchestration platform and DevSecOps pipeline issues.
  • Contributing to the developing requirement and designs for the container orchestration platforms and DevSecOps pipelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • DoD 8570 approved cybersecurity certification such as Security+ or CISSP.
  • 6+ years of experience working with Kubernetes-based containerization platforms and implementing DevSecOps practices.
  • Solid understanding of containerization and microservices architecture.
  • High proficiency in administering and configuring Kubernetes.
  • Experience securing a Kubernetes environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure as code (IAC) principles.
  • Detail oriented.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps in a container ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of DoD Platform 1.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms, like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Experience in Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration Environments.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps pipelines in a VMware environment.

Education/Experience

Undergraduate degree in a STEM related discipline and 6-years Kubernetes experience, or a combination of education and experience.
