PURPOSE:

The IT Infrastructure Manager – Systems & Networks will manage the team to maintain and operate the site Information Technology (IT) infrastructure for the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and peers to implement IT strategic initiatives in support of the site mission.
  • Provide technical leadership and functional guidance to assure prevention of accident and elimination of safety hazards within the facility.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise system engineers and technical support personnel engaged in establishing, implementing, and maintaining computerized information systems and/or in designing and implementing procedures to prevent inadvertent or deliberate disclosure, alteration or destruction of unclassified, sensitive, or classified information.
  • Provide business perspective to department personnel, coordinates department activities with information technology, security, and NSE organizations, and assures a high quality of customer service.
  • Develop operational plans, budgets, goals and priorities for the department and coordinates the allocation of required resources.
  • Effect changes in resources, plans, and procedures to facilitate achieving information technology goals.
  • Identify training requirements of personnel, develops appropriate training plans, and coordinates personnel development.
  • Encourage and facilitate internal and external teamwork of assigned personnel.
  • Develop processes, practices, and procedures to assure the maximum possible quality of the products and services.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the Infrastructure and Engineering team in the following technical areas: Virtualization, Windows/Linux OS, Storage, Enterprise Backup, Collaboration technologies, Cloud, and Data Center Operations.
  • Assist in the architecting of solutions in response to engineering support requests and for improving internal processes and procedures.
  • Manage and oversee planning, implementation, and operation of infrastructure improvement and refresh projects and participates in the specification of business requirements.
  • Ensure systems are secure by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
  • Identify and reports Key Performance Indicators, including capacity planning; demonstrates strong project leadership and ability to develop strong working relationships with customer technical personnel; participate in problem management and root cause analysis and maintain 24x7 availability and monitoring of enterprise systems.
  • Supervise employees and performs other managerial responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Take actions necessary to "stop" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.
Qualifications:

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 14 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
  • Experience managing in an Information Technology environment supervising professionals of varying levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical personnel solving complex technology computing problems, and ability to establish structure and processes to plan and manage the orderly implementation of change.
  • Strong management and technical skills, most notably architect-level skills in virtualization, systems administration, scalable upgrade and migration strategies, networking, and storage.
  • Possess the technical expertise with virtualization and network infrastructure technologies such as VMware vSphere, LAN, WAN, and Data Center.
  • Ability to manage technical personnel solving complex technology computing problems, and ability to establish structure and processes to plan and manage the orderly implementation of change.
  • Maintain broad-ranging business skills including: business awareness, architecture, team-building, planning, and project management.
  • Demonstrated experience to apply the following skills, knowledge and behaviors and be proficient in:
  • Problem Solving; Collaboration; Business Administration; Solid comprehension of cloud, virtualization, storage, networking, software and hardware; Strategic planning; Leadership; mentorship; creating and giving presentations; and data confidentiality, availability and integrity.

  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

  • Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.

  • Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
