Responsibilities:
We are seeking an Integration & Test S ystems Engineer (Mid/Sr.) to support our NASA customer based at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the Kennedy Uplink Station (KUS), and the Ponce De Leon (PDL) facilities located in New Smyrna Beach. This position will be a hybrid of locally remote, with travel to these NASA locations as needed, which will require a person who is within a commutable distance locally to these sites.

As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks. In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.

The SENSE Direct To Earth (DTE) Systems Engineering team supports cross functional disciplines such as Hardware/Software Engineering and System Engineering Integration & Test for the DTE projects. This will include the study, design, development, integration, testing, verification and operations of spaceflight, airborne and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions.

In this position, you will make plans, direct, and coordinate system engineering, integration and testing activities associated across multiple functional areas and products, including the following:
  • Provide System Engineering excellence through the System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) processes
  • Support deployment of new and revised applications to operational systems, including performing testing
  • Collaborate with technical engineering teams to identify, resolve, and mitigate system anomalies and complex system/software and cybersecurity issue
  • Provide leadership over planning, scheduling, and risk management activities
  • Collaborate with the Operations, IT Security, Mission Assurance and Task Order Leads to support Task Order requirements and deliverables across the program functional elements.
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related technical discipline, and 5+ years of related technical experience; or a MS degree and 3+ years of experience. Without a degree, 9+ years of experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of design development, integration, test (I&T) and operations within the systems engineering function
  • Experience working with customers to document, derive, and develop requirements
  • Experience communicating complex technical projects to high-level stakeholders
  • Experience in creation of Test Strategy, Plans, Scripts and Summary Reports.
  • Experience using Microsoft (MS) Office Tools to produce PowerPoint briefings, MS Project schedules, MS Word documents, and generate and manipulate Excel files
  • This position requires a “Public Trust” background check with the ability to obtain a Secret Security clearance, which requires a US citizen.
Desired Experience:
  • Experience with NASA, spacecrafts or ground systems, and satellite for launch vehicles
  • Experience with Automation Monitoring & Control (Hardware Control - HWCTRL)
  • Experience with RF analysis, telemetry and command and flight operation
  • Proficient professional written and verbal communication skills including briefings and presentations to leadership and customers
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving, multi-tasking, and attention to details
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of suppliers, vendors and Government employees
