Job Description

The goal of the Infection Control Department is to reduce and/or eliminate the risk of infections to the patients, the staff and the visitors. This is achieved through Surveillance, Education and Analysis of data, Outbreak investigation, Hospital wide Infection control Policies and Procedures, Communicable Disease reporting, Regulatory Compliance (Centers for Disease Control, Joint Commission, OSHA, HHC, NYCDOH, NYSDOH, CMS etc.) and Committee and Consultant Involvement. Much of the Infection Prevention data and/or responsibilities is confidential thus this position should be an Assistant Director of Nursing position. To maintain this high level of compliance the Infection Control Department requires adequate staff to support the activities.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Licensed and currently registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3), below.

2. Masters Degree in Nursing Administration, Education, Clinical Specialty or equivalent field and five years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which three years shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and six years of satisfactory nursing experience, four years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity.

3. A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
