Human Resources Manager (QSR/Foodservice Industry Experience)

This role is responsible for developing and executing the human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organisation, specifically in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, labor relations and compensation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Organizational Leadership:
  • Champion, develop, and implement HR strategies that meet the overall strategy, goals, and desired culture of RBD California.
  • Influence, shape, and communicate the content of organizational strategies and the strategic direction, particularly in relation to people-based components.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership team to build organizational performance through people and related HR strategy.
  • Lead the implementation of the HR strategy, ensuring appropriate governance and management of initiatives.
Talent Management:
  • Ensure that an integrated strategic program for all people-related functions in the organization, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, staff and leadership development, and recognition is implemented and working effectively.
  • Ensure a framework of business metrics that quantifies the effectiveness of the HR function is developed and implemented.
  • Ensure HR policies, systems, and processes to support successful HR management reflect best practices and are understood and complied with by the organization.
  • Provide effective engagement and consultation mechanisms with all levels of the organization on policies, procedures, and other HR initiatives.
  • Ensure that the right strategies for change are in place to support the strategic goals of the organisation.
  • Ensure Management understands and is prepared for workforce planning initiatives and strategies.
  • Ensure initiatives are in place and enable leaders to take ownership of career and succession strategies.
Employee/Labor Relations:
  • Provides guidance and counsel on employee relations issues, including dispute resolution, complaint investigations, worker’s compensation claims.
  • Assists in the internal resolution of employee grievances.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal HR labor laws.
Workplace Health and Safety:
  • Lead and take responsibility for coordinating Workplace Health & Safety activities with RBD California.

QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development combined 3 years Minimum Field of Expertise Directly relevant experience in human resources.
  • Professional certifications, such as SPHR or SHRM-SCP, are strongly preferred.
  • Relevant experience in human resources and payroll with supervisory experience, preferably in higher education and a large, complex operation.
  • Relevant experience in Quick-Service and Fast Casual Restaurants is required.
  • Experience in a dynamic, fast-paced organization. Be able to participate in an ‘all hands on deck’ office to maximize resources and to work effectively across departments and central offices.
  • Must possess strong project and time management skills.
Business/Technical Skills:
  • Verifiable experience in dealing with best practice human resources practices.
  • An understanding of employment-related legislation (and particularly California Labor Laws) and developing and maintaining effective employee relations.
  • Familiarity in best practice recruitment and selection techniques, industrial relations, learning & development, and health & safety practices.
  • Experience in problem-solving and providing innovative advice and solutions within legal and organizational parameters.
  • Demonstrated people management experience in high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated skill in creative thinking, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work respectfully and persuasively in a diverse community with those who may have differing opinions and experiences.
Experience (Technical and Behavioral):
  • A minimum of three years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement are preferred.
