    Title:

    Technology TEACHER – HIGH SCHOOL

    Job Objective:

    The high school technology teacher is responsible for educating and inspiring students in the field of technology. This role involves designing and delivering curriculum, implementing effective teaching strategies, and fostering a positive learning environment. The technology teacher will instruct students in various technology-related subjects, including computer science, programming, digital literacy, and other relevant areas. The goal is to equip students with essential skills and knowledge to thrive in the digital age and prepare them for future educational and career opportunities.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A valid State of Ohio teaching certificate or license for teaching assignment.
    • Experience with Object-Oriented Programming.
    • Some XHTML and/or Javascript experience is preferred.
    • Evidence of a clear record as determined by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII).


    Job Duties, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions:

    • Develop and update technology curriculum in alignment with educational standards and school guidelines.
    • Design engaging and interactive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
    • Teach AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A (Java), and Honors C++ Programming.
    • Teach Financial Literacy.
    • Obtain certification to teach Financial Literacy courses through ODE before the 2024-25 school year.
    • Communicate classroom and technology needs to the Technology Director.
    • Work with the Media/Technology Specialist and Art Department to develop and deliver curriculum for Media courses.
    • Stays current with the latest advancements in Computer Science and Computer Science Education.
    • Integrate technology tools, resources, and applications into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences
    • Deliver effective instruction in technology-related subjects, ensuring clarity and relevance.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in using technology tools and applications relevant to the subject area.
    • Integrate educational technology effectively into instruction to enhance learning outcomes.
    • Teach students essential digital literacy skills, including internet safety, responsible online behavior, and information evaluation
    • Demonstrate subject matter competence and teaching proficiency.
    • Ensure the learning process is guided toward the adopted curricular goals, objectives, and proficiencies. Analyze student needs and adjust the curriculum to address individual learning patterns.
    • Establish a learning environment for students that encourages self reliance and group responsibility.
    • Cooperate with Guidance Department staff to ensure appropriate student progress with social and emotional development.
    • Give students positive feedback that encourages adult behavior and the development of appropriate short and long term goals.
    • Prepare and carry out daily lesson plans (e.g., written clearly, usable, and sequential).
    • Present material using a variety of approaches, techniques, and media aids to provoke interest, enthusiasm, and curiosity about subjects and events.
    • Attempt to develop rapport and maintain the confidence of parents and students.
    • Provide periodic progress reports to parents using telephone calls, notes, interim reports, report cards, and conferences, etc.
    • Maintain accurate classroom records, reports, and inventories, as directed.
    • Ensure the confidentiality of privileged information.
    • Complete appropriate student referral forms as needed for possible assessment.
    • Consult with pupil services staff regarding instruction modifications, classroom adjustments, and/or other methods that support the attainment of educational goals for students with disabilities.
    • Assist as a team member with the development of Individualized Education Programs (I.E.P.) for each student identified as disabled.
    • Consult with the Intervention Assistance Team, when requested.
    • Share in the responsibility for authorized committee work, when requested.
    • Suggest equipment or teaching techniques that will enhance the educational process.
    • Promote the proper care of school property, equipment, textbooks, supplies, and other materials. Account for school resources used by students.
    • Help communicate school rules to students. Maintain high standards for student conduct and enforce discipline according to classroom/school policy and the due process rights of students.
    • Prepare the assigned classroom at the beginning of the year. Retrieve inventory of supplies and equipment as required. Store equipment and supplies at the end of the school year.
    • Participate in afterschool programs (e.g., open house, parent conferences, etc.). Voluntarily support parent organization activities as time permits.
    • Participate in professional growth activities (e.g., professional associations, course work, workshops, seminars, etc.). Share knowledge with colleagues.
    • Model life-long learning to staff and students.
    • Serve as a role model for students. Demonstrate responsibility, citizenship, respect, and courtesy.
    • Perform other duties, as directed.


    Physical and Mental Abilities Required:

    • Ability to move freely throughout the building.
    • Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment or supplies weighing up to twenty pounds.
    • Ability to work with young children in activities that may require stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
    • Ability to communicate effectively using language and writing skills.
    • Ability to maintain a non-punitive relationship with students and demonstrate fairness and patience while respecting their confidences.
    • Ability to facilitate the exchange of ideas leading to a group consensus.
    • Ability to react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions.
    • Ability to organize and complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to maintain a tactful disposition in dealing with administrators, staff, students, parents, and the public.


    Supervisory Responsibility:

    • Under the direction of the Principal: schedule work assignments, provide instructions, trains, and communicates expectations to Educational Aides, student teachers, and volunteers, when assigned.


    Working Conditions:

    • Occasional exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue.
    • Occasional interaction with agitated or upset parents/public.
    • Frequent interaction with disruptive or unruly children.
    • Frequent exposure to student commotion.
    • Work under stress to meet schedules and deadlines.
    • Work cooperatively with others.
    • Considerable paperwork is required.
    • Duties may require occasional work during the evening and/or weekend.
