Title: Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary: The Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for providing on-site repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, and other construction and mining equipment. The Field Service Heavy Equipment Mechanic will work independently, traveling to various job sites to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other systems of heavy equipment, ensuring they are operating safely and efficiently. This role requires expertise in heavy equipment mechanics, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic field environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site repair and maintenance services for heavy equipment at customer job sites, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of issues to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other systems of heavy equipment using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication, to ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues in heavy equipment, and develop and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Order and replace parts as needed, ensuring proper inventory management and documentation.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety regulations and standards.
  • Keep accurate records of all repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed on heavy equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, providing technical advice, and maintaining positive relationships with customers.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders to report equipment status, repair progress, and any issues or concerns.
  • Provide training and guidance to less experienced mechanics or apprentices as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal heavy equipment mechanic training program or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably working in field service or remote locations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems of heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic tools, equipment, and software used in heavy equipment repair.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to various job sites, often in remote or challenging locations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic field environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to effectively communicate with customers and team members.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including standing, bending, lifting heavy objects, and working in all weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
