Research Medical Center Brookside Campus is a comprehensive center for outpatient services and 24-hour emergency care. It is located on a 25-acre campus in south Kansas City, Missouri that includes outpatient facilities, medical office buildings, administrative offices, and a comprehensive health and fitness center.

Job Summary:

Hand therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation of the upper limb, which includes the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder girdle. Using specialized skills in assessment, planning and treatment, hand therapists provide therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction, restore function and/or reverse the progression of pathology of the upper limb in order to enhance an individual’s ability to execute tasks and to participate fully in life situations.

About this unit:

  • Providing comprehensive rehabilitation services for physical and occupational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions as a member of the healthcare team
  • The purpose is to provide medically prescribed occupational therapy programs in accordance with national standards and administrative policies of the hospital.
  • The goal is to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, surgery or loss of a body part in order to allow he patient to perform to his/her maximum ability.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Minimum education required is a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Missouri State Occupational Therapy License
  • Certification by Hand Therapy Certification Commission
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certificate - Current
