Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County is looking to add a part-time Grant Writer to our Resource Development team!

Boys & Girls Club of Hernando County (BGCHC) provides fun, engaging, and educational before-and-after school programming within Hernando County’s public schools. We also provide early childhood education at seven preschool locations. Our mission is to enable children, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain a sound knowledge of the Club’s mission, programs, target population and strategic vision. Use this information to better prepare proposals and other written communications.
• Manage a portfolio of institutional prospects while researching and identifying new potential funding sources, both local and national; present new prospects and suggest next steps.
• Write, submit and track grant proposals and reports, managing deadlines. Assist with compiling information for and writing LOIs and proposals for larger grants as needed. Communicate grant deadlines to appropriate parties in a timely manner.
• Work closely with Director of Finance to develop budgets for proposals in line with grant requirements.
• Research grant-making entities to identify new funding opportunities
• Assist with the maintenance of internal grants management records
• Participate in fundraising, community events and other activities to maintain good public relations for Club programs, services and activities.
• Attend relevant conferences, webinars, and trainings as assigned.
• Any and all other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent; higher education strongly preferred.
• Minimum 3-5 years of grant writing experience, including proposal, report and budget development.
• Excellent written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge and experience with public funding and government resources.
• Willingness to accept constructive feedback during draft phase of proposal.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple simultaneous projects, and pay close attention to detailed proposal and reporting guidelines.
• Capacity to work well independently and take initiative as well as to collaborate with colleagues and work as a team.

SCHEDULE: TBD, however, this position would work in the administrative office at least 2 days per week.
