POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting directly to the Head of International, this position is primarily responsible for the profitable underwriting, management, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business in support of our GlobalReach business. This role will have accountability to underwrite, price and support our customers with foreign exposures. You will have the responsibility to cultivate, build and maintain relationships internally within the business unit, across enterprise business units as well as externally with agents and brokers to achieve business objectives and goals. This will be accomplished through the development and execution of territory plans and successful collaboration with Hanover domestic business units as well as agent/broker partners to provide a total global solution to Hanover customers, supporting the positioning of Hanover as a full capability provider to our Partner agents. This position will assist with improvements to our current Global capabilities and ongoing development of business procedures for the acquisition and servicing of GlobalReach business that differentiates Hanover from competitors.

This is a Full-time, Exempt role.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
  • Within assigned authority parameters, performs routine selection, evaluation, underwriting and pricing of the more complex GlobalReach risks.
  • Territory management acquisition, implementation, and ongoing servicing of GlobalReach business.
  • Responsibility for the delivery of expert global account services within assigned territory.
  • The individual filling the position will work independently, utilizing their acquired skills and industry knowledge to help Hanover develop a strategic position for our GlobalReach product, and wider multinational capabilities.
  • Execution of best practices by following stated workflows.
  • Appropriately balancing changing priorities based upon underwriting needs and performing within time constraints with a high volume of work.
  • Collaborating with more senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level.
  • Build and foster strong internal and external relationships.
  • Reviewing CAT modeling for flood, earthquake and wind exposures.
  • Making presentations and communicating risk appetite and value proposition articulately to our field organization internally, agents and customers.
  • Developing and maintaining a submission pipeline sufficient to achieve overall production and business mix objective.
  • Leads pre-renewal meetings to build schedule of key activities.
  • Responsible for accurate underwriting/pricing exhibits (exposures, rating and pricing worksheets, account information).
  • Communicates with external producers/customers and serves as the main point of contact on account related matters.
  • Participates in ad-hoc activities as needed.
  • Key Measures of Success:
o. Individual quality and accuracy levels above established standards.
p. Production at level to meet or exceed Service Level Agreements.
q. Adherence to Corporate policies and procedures.
r. Identify process improvements.
s. UW profitability based on quality of referrals, quality of audits, and achievement of mix goals.
t. Service metrics, aligned with workflows and best practices
u. Agency relationships – as measured by agency feedback.

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
  • Associates degree preferred and 2-4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Underwriting knowledge and awareness of how the various roles/functions fit together and importance of each.
  • Demonstrates solid understanding of basic exposure/control analysis and coverage.
  • Demonstrates superior critical thinking skills, knows how to find missing information.
  • Thorough and consistent.
  • Excellent customer service, and phone skills, intermediate computer skills, including email, windows interface, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business strategy.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external contacts.
