Western Technologies Inc., established in 1955, has an excellent opportunity in our Flagstaff, Arizona office for a Geotechnical Field Engineer/Geologist. The ideal candidate will have passed the fundamentals of engineering exam (E.I.T.) or the fundamentals of geology exam (G.I.T.) and have interest in geotechnical engineering.

Duties include, but not limited to, the following:
- Prepare geologic maps and cross sections, conduct geologic site reconnaissance and subsurface evaluations, logging of small and large-diameter borings and test pits for evaluation of subsurface soil and geologic conditions, and performing construction observation services.
- Review and assist project managers with the accumulation and compilation of geotechnical data including background information, review of geotechnical geohazard maps and fault maps, review and interpretation of aerial photographs, and boring and test pit logs.
- Prepare and oversee field logistics.
- Prepare and review professional geotechnical reports for private industry and governmental agencies.
- Review and implement technical protocols and procedures in accordance with company operating procedures.
- Travel to job sites and meetings with clients, agencies, and third parties.
- Perform seismic refraction and refraction-micro tremor surveys for rippability and seismic site classifications
- Candidate should have an understanding and knowledge of soils classification, engineering geologic description, and field mapping.
- Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive attitude, good organizational skills, and a strong work ethic.
- Civil Engineer (E.I.T.) or Geologist (G.I.T.) preferred but not required.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Willingness to learn and accept new challenges.
- Must be able to work both independently and as a team member.
