About Us:

Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.

With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

General Duties:

Cecil College seeks qualified applicants to fill a full-time Environmental Science Faculty position beginning in the fall of the 2023-2024 academic year. Some of these college courses may be offered at Cecil public high schools. Ability to also teach physical sciences preferred.

Cecil College fosters a collegial working environment, is dedicated to student success, and ranks among the nation's leaders in faculty/student engagement. Salary is dependent on academic preparation and experience. This full-time, 10-month, renewable position begins preferably in Fall 2023 start date.

Due to the need of interaction with students, employees and the college community this position requires in person presence. This position is eligible for telework.

Other Responsibilities:

Please note these responsibilities are not meant to be an exhaustive life of faculty responsibilities.

Conduct assigned classes in accordance with the approved master course syllabus and stipulations of the department. Teach a full-time load of 30-credit hours per academic year.

Meet every scheduled class, including the final examination, for the full scheduled number of minutes. Any changes in meeting place or time should be reported to the Administrative Assistants of Academic Programs and the Department Chair prior to the class meeting.

Follow the requirements in the ‘Master Syllabi and Course Syllabi Policy and Procedures’. On the first day of class, provide each student with the Course Syllabus. Course Syllabi must be posted to Blackboard prior to or on the day of the first-class meeting.

Adhere to additional duties as set forth in a faculty member’s contract and/or required by virtue of the faculty member’s position at the College

Assume other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Division Chair, the Dean of Academic Programs, the Chief Academic Officer, or the President or his designee.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related discipline
  • Successful college-level teaching experience in the related field.
  • Prior teaching experience in college/university setting.
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
  • Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
  • Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
