POSITION SUMMARY:
An Operating/Endoscopy Room Scrub Tech performs technical responsibilities relative to assisting physicians with the instrumentation of surgical intervention. Monitors par levels of all surgical instruments and supplies. Assist in the cleaning and sterilization of all surgical instruments. Participates in staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures that all equipment needed for procedures is properly disinfected, assembled and working properly.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge and understanding of surgical procedures to enable proper performance of scrub duties and to anticipate the needs of the surgeons
• Assists with patient positioning, skin preparation, and surgical draping according to surgeon’s protocol
• Performs patient care
• Respects patient’s rights by maintaining patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
• Assists in the turnover of the O.R. between cases, disposing of trash and linens, and cleaning of equipment and environmental surfaces, as required.
• Prepares procedure room for use the following day by bringing in equipment, setting up, "pulling cases" accurately, and reporting to supervisor items that are needed and not available.

Education Qualifications:

• Must be currently Certified.
• High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

• One-year experience in an operating room setting
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
