As an Engineering Training and Competency Manager, you will be responsible for defining the training and competency needs of Heathrow’s hugely diverse engineering and asset management function. Applying your knowledge of training and assessment, you will have the autonomy to establish bespoke development plans, support our apprentice and graduate trainees, and assist in leading our outreach programmes; ensuring we continue to deliver diverse and engaged recruits into our succession routes.

Your role will involve:

• Assessing and evaluating the competency of all Engineers at all levels.

• Working closely with Operations Managers to review business needs and development routes.

• Engaging with central Learning and Inclusion team, to perform training needs analysis and succession planning, based on business and statutory requirements.

• Supporting and maintaining the Engineering pay progression framework and all associated training and competency documentation.

• Optimising apprenticeship scheme funding, utilisation and levy draw down.

• Supporting with the attraction and recruitment of STEM employees, apprentices, and engineering graduates.

These Skills are Ideal :

• An understanding of Engineering and a recognised engineering or technical qualification such as City and Guilds, NVQ or Degree.

• Qualified A1 (D32/33) NVQ Assessor, or a sound knowledge of NVQ modules and a willingness to attain assessor certification.

• Qualified or willing to work towards becoming an Internal NVQ Verifier.

• Train the Trainer, PTLLS or DTLLS accreditation, or equivalent Award in Education and Training.

• Demonstrable leadership skills.

• An understanding of Engineering Apprenticeship frameworks, Engineering Council Incorporated and Chartered frameworks.
