Statement of Job*
Responsible for facilitating and managing all functions pertaining to the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP). This position also ensures all EMP samples are collected, documented, and routed. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to lead small teams, technical expertise, knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and proficiency with data analysis in RCI and Connective Action.

Major Duties

  • Understand the Environmental Monitoring Programs
  • Knowledgeable of ATP Swabbing, Environmental Sponging & Air Sampling
  • Conduct data analysis for all lines
  • Lead EMP meetings with plant and corporate employees
  • Work closely with all departments to maintain flow of communication, promoting cooperation between team members and departments
  • Coordinate and fabricate requested samples for shipment. Liaise between third party testing facility
  • Ensure inventory supply for the laboratory and quality department is maintained
  • Update, and review EMP procedures and policies as new changes are implemented through document control
  • Perform and lead root cause analysis for non-conformances
  • Prepare and collect micro samples for testing of the environment while following proper GMPs, safety guidelines, and aseptic procedures.
  • Monitor and sample the areas and products that are out of specification for micros and perform investigations and corrective actions when needed.
  • Maintain list of sample collection sites, prepare paperwork, labels, confirm for accuracy, organize and ship samples
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Must ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and maintains constant inspection readiness
  • Ability to climb stairs and walk desirable distances
  • Always promote job safety

Special Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in basic English and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, proportions, areas, and volumes. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions with minimal guidance, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong ability to work with others as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to analyze data and troubleshoot to help determine root cause and corrective actions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision

Skill and Knowledge

  • 3 or more years of Food Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Leadership capability
  • Adaptability- Adapts well in fast paced, constantly changing work environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft Office applications
  • Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good knowledge of HACCP and general QC/GMP practices and procedures
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees

Education

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in microbiology, Food Science or related field or a combination of college science courses or Associate Degree in a science or management discipline or 2-year Technical College degree.

Schedule and Expected Hours

  • Shift work will be required
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evening as needed
