SEH is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Electrical Group as the Electric Utilities Group Leader. This will be an exciting new service offering at SEH and a unique opportunity to forge new ground, with the robust support of practice center and regional management. This role requires someone with a strong mindset toward technical capability, project management, and business development.

Your role will be to develop and grow services with public and private electric utilities. You won’t tackle this alone. The electric utilities group will be part of the company’s Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Practice Center. You will also have the support of SEH client service managers in developing relationships with utility clients. This is a flexible work environment hybrid role where you can work from the office and from home and will be located in the St. Paul, MN area.

Role Description:

  • Opportunity to use your leadership skills to develop and execute the roadmap for the electric utilities group over the next 1, 3, and 5 years.
  • Make introductions with clients to present service capabilities.
  • Develop project opportunities and prepare proposals for work.
  • Manage project deliverables for client expectations and planned profit.
  • Develop a team: interview and hire the right team member to support the group’s roadmap; supervise the electric utilities group team members; support the career development of the group’s team members; strategically support the groups growth across the company’s service area.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college.
  • 10+ years professional experience, focused in the electric utilities market.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Minnesota
  • Technical experience in preparing design documents for bidding and supporting construction administration services.
  • Strong project and staff management skills.
  • Familiarity with the electric utilities market in the St. Paul and surrounding areas
  • Interest in developing and leading a new group dedicated to electric utility projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site project visits, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Experience with electrical transmission and distribution systems and equipment including substations, medium-voltage transformers, engine generators, etc.
  • Familiarity with both underground and overhead distribution
  • Experience with electrical utility planning, condition assessments, and studies
  • Familiarity or experience with substation design, Renewable Power Generation projects including Utility-Scale solar, and hydropower / hydroelectric power projects
