The Operations Manager assists the Assistant General Manager and General Manager in managing hotel day-today operations, assures optimum performance and continual improvement in guest satisfaction and associate satisfaction. The Ops Manager is hands on in managing and overseeing the housekeeping department, including scheduling, directing and overseeing their daily activities and training. The Ops Manager is expected to provide leadership to the staff to promote an exceptional workplace. The Ops Manager also must ensure that safety and security procedures are in place in accordance with company guidelines and standards for all associates and guests.

Job Duties:

  • Oversees the daily operations of the housekeeping department for a 219-room dual branded property.
  • Required to assist as inspector, laundry attendant, room attendant and/or PA if necessary.
  • Demonstrates and promotes 100% commitment to providing the best possible experience for our guests.
  • Become trained in all managerial functions and operations at the hotel level. Work closely with all hotel managers.
  • Ensures all associates are trained and complete required training timely. The associate must promote compliance with company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the prompt reporting of all safety and security issues directly to the manager or to the appropriate authorities.
  • Upholds and drives compliance with policies, rules, and standards (including but not limited to the safety and security guidelines) at the property level.
  • Ensure associates at the property are driving company initiatives to increase revenue, lower costs and increase guest and associate satisfaction.
  • Serves as first level of management contact for guest service issues. Resolves guest issues in a timely manner and determines whether to escalate to AGM/GM as needed.
  • The Ops Manager must demonstrate professionalism and embrace service culture and treat all guest and associates with the utmost of respect and kindness.
  • Assists in maximizing revenues and flow through to GOP.
  • Oversees budgetary control measures, including labor monitoring, room expense control and maintaining PAR levels through Daily Visual Management.
  • Oversees the overall housekeeping operation including ordering and tracking inventory. Ensures that clean rooms, guest and associate satisfaction are top priorities.

Other Duties:

  • Assists the AGM/GM with interviewing, onboarding and training new associates.
  • Direct supervision/involvement with all associates to promote a positive work environment through teamwork, energy, enthusiasm and recognition.
  • Assist front desk associates during busy times and work full front desk shifts if necessary.
  • Actively involved in the daily team meeting and interacts with the staff to foster continuous improvement, needed guidance, encouragement and corrective action when necessary.
  • Ensures associates have the necessary tools to execute their jobs on an ongoing basis.
  • Serves as the manager on duty in the absence of the AGM/GM.
  • Provides other relief, or back-up duties as needed at the hotel including front desk coverage, housekeeping, and other duties when needed to ensure optimum operation of the hotel.
  • Responsible for managing purchase order process, ordering and receiving products in a timely manner.
  • Assists AGM/GM in monitoring cash management, in-house guest balances and direct bill receivables compliance.
  • Ensures all departments have their payroll in on time, reviews hours, overtime, and reclasses. Sends all packets in to payroll on-time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Safety and Security:

  • Recognizes and corrects conditions which may create security, fire, or accident hazards.
  • Understands and implements hotel’s key control system. Reasonable accommodations may be made so qualified individuals with disabilities can perform the essential duties of the position. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree or higher level education.
  • 3 years of hotel operations experience with 1 or more as a supervisor is preferred.
  • Experience at intermediate or better level using computers for recordkeeping, scheduling, and information finding.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires bending, lifting and the ability to be continuously mobile throughout the shift.
  • Regularly lift up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to mild cleaning chemicals is normal.
  • Moderate noise level associated with using vacuum cleaners, laundry equipment, floor scrubbers, and other housekeeping equipment.
  • The majority of the work is performed inside the hotel.
  • Handle multiple priorities, work under stress and exercise good judgment when dealing with guest situations and complaints.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
