Description
The Economic Services Administration, Community Services Division (CSD), Community Service Office (CSO), is looking for a Public Benefits Specialist 4 to join our team in Arlington, WA. In this role, you will serve as a lead worker and support your supervisor by coaching Public Benefits Specialist staff, providing assistance for financial eligibility, and by providing focused training. You will also regularly conduct financial eligibility audits and ensure that current eligibility information and training are communicated with staff.
Snohomish County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Support Public Benefits Specialist staff who process cash, medical, and/or food benefits
  • Audit/review work of Public Benefits Specialist staff
  • Maintain and review procedures for efficient workflow
  • Verifies and establishes overpayments and complete referrals
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints
  • Analyze oral and written information
  • Educate stakeholders on public benefit programs and eligibility requirements
What we're looking for:
  • Effectively communicate in a virtual setting and in writing with management, peers, direct staff and clients
  • Ability to read, interpret and explain State procedures, memos and directives
  • Have excellent knowledge of Cash, Food and Medical Programs, Community Services Division processes, and confidence in navigating ACES, ACES Online, Barcode, e-Jas, ICMS, Washington Connections, and other related state programs as needed
  • Capacity to make independent decisions based on the knowledge and correct interpretation of public laws and policies
  • Flexibility to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with interruption
  • Demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to adapt to each person’s learning and communication styles
  • Work cohesively within an established team
  • Keen on promoting a positive work environment that supports collaboration, transparency, trust, honesty, respect and accountability
