The Division of Motor Vehicles is recruiting to fill a Field Services Supervisor (DOT Supervisor) located at the La Crosse Area Customer Service Center at 9477 Hwy 16 East, Onalaska, WI 54650.

Position Summary


This DMV Field Services Supervisor position supervises 4 teams of DMV CSR staff located at the La Crosse Area Service Center along with 3, 20-hour offices (Prairie du Chien, Richland Center & Viroqua Service Centers). This position is responsible for the administration of the driver license, motor vehicle registration, and ID card programs at DMV service centers. Responsibilities include: assigning work schedules, reviewing financial reports including cash errors, identifying training needs, and approving leave requests.

Additional job duties include: analyzing issues for consideration in new legislation or division policies and plans, developing process improvement efforts, encouraging staff to achieve unit goals, conducting performance evaluations, handling discipline issues, developing and monitoring budgets, and special projects as assigned.

Salary Information


This position is in schedule-range (81-03) with an annual salary of $62,400-$74,880, plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Supervisors working in our Bureau of Field Services may perform driver license examining and will be required to possess and maintain a valid driver license.

Supervisors are required to travel throughout their assigned service area on an independent and regular basis. Additionally, occasional travel throughout the state to attend meetings, trainings, and other individual assignments is also required.

Qualifications


Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:

  • Developing, implementing and measuring process improvement efforts
  • Training and improving performance of staff including providing guidance and feedback
  • Interpreting, analyzing and applying complex information, such as laws, rules or policies and arriving at conclusions or recommendations

In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Assigning and delegating work
  • Coordinating work processes between different work units or areas
  • Approving and modifying work schedules
  • Developing program or project goals
  • Responding to and addressing employee discipline problems
  • Leading and coordinating meetings
  • Interpreting personnel related policies and procedures
  • Conducting evaluations of performance and recommending appropriate action if necessary
