Job Posting Summary

The Director of Academic Partnerships is responsible for coordinating key initiatives, on behalf of the Office of the Provost, that advance the College’s mission. The Director will serve as the “point person” for select external partners of the College including but not limited to Hudson Link and our high school partners through the High School Achievement Program.

The Director will work closely across academic schools and college units to coordinate project faculty, staff and logistics, and implement improvement and growth opportunities to support student success.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

Administrative Responsibilities

  • On behalf of the Office of the Provost, oversee key initiatives and planning within academic affairs to support the expansion of current and future college partnerships
  • Coordinate projects in partnership with stakeholders including Hudson Link, the Mercy College High School Achievement Program (HSAP) partners, and college units
  • Collaborate with key units across the college to strengthen and streamline processes associated with the academic partnerships
  • Ensure project planning moves from a strategic to operational level where all members of the college community, internal and external, understand the project impact and expectations
  • Grow and enhance relationships and communication opportunities with individuals from partner organizations to advance the project mission and goals
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Prepare project plans that detail steps, timelines, communication and resources needed to accomplish specific initiatives
  • Work closely with Deans, Associate Deans, and Academic Unit Heads to coordinate course and program offerings, in collaboration with partners
  • Coordinate with appropriate college offices including the Registrar’s Office, IT, Student Affairs, Admissions, and the Office of Educational Assessment to secure timely and efficient processes in support of the academic partnerships
  • Ensure alignment of course syllabi and assignments with course and program learning outcomes
  • Create and enhance communication channels for students, faculty and staff associated with the academic partnerships
  • Develop a regular observation process and schedule, in partnership with academic department leadership, to ensure academic rigor and coherence in all coursework
  • Document processes and automate procedures to ensure efficient operations
  • Maintain confidentiality in the management of student information
  • Demonstrate written and oral ability in working across units to support student success
  • Lead the development and implementation of a plan for evaluation of progress of special projects
  • Maintain a work environment that is marked by respect for others; that values inclusiveness and builds workforce diversity; and that fosters cooperation and teamwork
  • Identify and initiate actions independently to support the project vision and objectives, and to resolve problems
  • Manage time and other resources to meet established short- and long-term goals within the agreed-upon time frames
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned

Communication/Relationships
  • Regularly update the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs on program status to demonstrate meaningful progress on planning and goals
  • Coordinate regular communication and updates between project partners and college units
  • Demonstrate a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude in dealing with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the Mercy College community, both internal and external.
  • Attend off-campus events and meetings as needed
  • Organize workshops, meetings and professional development events as needed
  • Answer telephones and emails in an appropriate, professional manner, and resolve problems in a reasonable time frame
Policies and Procedures Compliance
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of the College
  • Comply with all required training. Ensure that employees complete all required training.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in planning and implementing key initiatives in a complex organization, preferably in an educational setting
  • Strong multitasking, prioritization and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated evidence of detail-orientation and ability to work independently
  • Enhance the quality of relationships with college partners through oversight of our processes, timelines, and communication
  • Partner with our Academic Deans, Associate Deans, and Unit Heads on the coordination of academic offerings and faculty assignment
  • Two or more years of experience teaching in higher education (preferred)
Education Requirements:
  • Master’s degree required, Doctorate Preferred
Physical/Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per college policies
  • Travel to other locations may be required
Compensation offered will be commensurate with the educational background and work experience of the individual.

The Mercy College Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:
Deferred Compensation Plan
All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the College.
Defined Contribution Plan
Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy College and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.
If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy College, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
