Job Summary:

The Director of Organizational Development will work with our Human Resources team to build strong relationships with current and future faculty, staff, and students and to create an inclusive and welcoming work environment at Kishwaukee College.

Supervisorial Responsibilities: None

Essential functions of this role include:

· Onboarding and New Hire Support

· Development and Retention

· Employee Experience

Onboarding and New Hire Support

· Conduct Onboarding process for new hires and newly promoted.

· Develops an individualized, needs-based onboarding plan.

· Collaborates with new employees, managers, and Human Resources staff to ensure an innovative and supportive onboarding experience.

· Facilitates follow up with new employees. Surveying and following up throughout first year of employment.

· Supports training and learning for safety, special projects, technical and function training.

Development and Retention

· Collaborates with current staff to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all.

· Develops a detailed knowledge of employees and their goals to contribute to succession planning through an awareness of staff knowledge, skills, abilities and experience.

· Assist HR team and focus on employee retention

· Conduct stay interviews/surveys to determine trends and any specific issues that need to be addressed.

· Explore and recommend retention strategies.

· Design, deliver and maintain training for employees, managers, and leaders pertaining to employee relations and related compliance (e.g., training concerning policies, procedures, employee relations, and/or applicable state and federal legal requirements).

· Research, propose and implement new e-learning programs and partner with external resources as needed.

Employee Experience

· Assists administration in identifying and resolving problems with staff, faculty or organizational structure, processes or policies that impede the creation of a positive work environment. May develop and deliver organizational interventions.

· Identifies, develops and facilitates management training forums on HR policies, management/leadership development, team building and interpersonal skills. Identifies and refers management staff to additional training resources both internal and external.

· Plan and execute employee events to encourage engagement, including but not limited to training events, recognition, and employee events. Event type and magnitude vary.

· Work with management to coordinate employee engagement events and outings.

· Implement/support organization wide culture initiatives to include employee listening sessions/surveys, focus groups and action planning

· Plan and execute culture events and programs in coordination with VP, Director of HR and Senior Leadership.

· Facilitate & maintain the College’s Employee Recognition Program

· Work closely with all areas of campus to provide timely implementation of programs, and status reports to support the annual employee life cycle programs i.e. performance management, merit planning, HR Compliance training.

· Collaborates with the Marketing team in the preparation of internal employee communications regarding HR policies and newsletters.

· Create, analyze and report on team/individual ‘talent dashboards’ and identify development options, with continuous follow-up to ensure accountability and ongoing participation across the College.

· Troubleshoot and manage items as they arise that could impact the successful outcomes of projects and provide timeline regular updates.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Our ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of strong experience in any focus area, talent acquisition, human resources generalist, organizational development and/or employee engagement with proven results.

Must have knowledge, capacity and willingness to back up various areas of Human Resources.

o Ability to be proactive, make decisions, problem-solve and adapt to change.

o Ability and ease of communicating, liaising with, and presenting to all levels of staff – entry level to executive.

o Has a deep appreciation for a diverse staff across the college community.

o Partners with leadership teams to identify trends within the College that require proactive engagement and recommends strategies, policies or procedures changes to enhance the teams’ effectiveness.

o Adheres to compliance of local, state, and federal legislation in relation to HR policies.

o Serves as a resource to all faculty, staff and students, providing exceptional customer service.

o Broad knowledge of human resource areas to include professional development, compensation, and benefits, as they relate to attracting and retaining our workforce.

o In depth knowledge of employee relations, policies and regulations, and general organizational development techniques and tools.

o Strong knowledge of human resource regulatory issues.

o Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication and listening skills and high level of perception when communicating with others.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, or equivalent relevant experience

· Minimum 5 years of related experience.

Physical Demands

· Work is normally performed in a general office setting

· Work is conducted in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions

· This position requires light physical activity and movement
