The Executive Director of Strategic Marketing is a key member of the global business segment leadership team. He/She will lead the strategy development and execution for the overall business segment, including global upstream product marketing strategies. The incumbent will drive growth by identifying new or expanding market opportunities for Olympus products and creating proposals and strategies for optimizing those opportunities. He/She will collaborate with peers across the globe on market research and analysis and will lead initiatives to drive our business objectives.

Job Duties

  • Serve as the Therapeutics Solutions Division representative for the Business Segment in the Strategic Business Planning meetings, Global Product Approval Board Meetings, and Business Unit Meetings, influencing and driving the development of the associated long term system level strategy, road map and commercial plan (capital and devices developed throughout Olympus).


  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of customer needs, market trends, competitive landscape, technology trends, identification and assessment of significant growth opportunities including looking beyond the existing product portfolio.


  • Support the Business Segment Leader to create the vision and mission and layout the overall Global Portfolio Strategy and Strategic 5-year plan to successfully achieve targets.


  • Identify, analyze, and execute market research activities to develop insights, identify trends, and establish a roadmap of actions to capitalize on identified opportunities to drive portfolio decisions.


  • Provide input on new product development, market/business intelligence and related stakeholder functions, providing voice-of-the-customer and expertise to drive decision making.


  • Engage with Olympus R&D, Operations, and Manufacturing to coordinate global product road maps ensuring strategic fit, alignment and prioritization.


  • Working with Medical Affairs and program teams, prioritize and lead market development and evidence generation efforts, including clinical and health economic studies.


  • Working with Business Development, identify potential areas and companies for strategic partnership, distribution, or M&A activity.


  • For early stage and/or high complexity/impact projects, either act as a core team member or stay intimately close to the project, while leading the business case development and project proposals to ensure adequate input and direction.


  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.


  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior management levels in FDA regulated health care or medical device industries or in health care related consultancy.


  • Experience in the medical devices market.


  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Advanced degree/MBA is preferred.


  • Experience in strategy management consulting or similar, highly preferred.


  • Extensive experience in establishing and managing annual and long-term commercial business plans as a key leader with a strong preference in healthcare.


  • Creative thinker and strategic planner with a profound commercial acumen related to the sales and marketing of medical devices.


  • Good negotiating, problem solving and project management skills.


  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.


  • Adept at delivering appropriate messages to employees at all levels of the organization as well as to the senior management of healthcare facilities from physicians to administration.


  • Skilled at customer relationship building and maintenance.


  • Skilled at managing through influence.
