DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Our rapidly expanding Company is searching for a dynamic Director of Finance with a proven track record of success to manage all of the company’s fiscal operations through direct oversight of our Accounting and Payroll departments. This individual should possess the skills to conduct complex data analysis, forecast cash flow needs, implement appropriate process improvements, participate in system integration efforts and make strategic decisions about the departments’ structure and workflow. The Director of Finance will have responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills, and the ability to oversee processing a high volume of transactions in a deadline driven environment. The Director of Finance should harmonize financial operations, develop effective financial strategies, guide efforts towards financial stability, monitor all financial activities, promote revenue growth, ensure compliance with accounting regulations, and maintain good relationships with other departments and external stakeholders.

Director of Finance Responsibilities:

Accounting, Financial Controls and Financial Reporting

  • Develops financial well-being of the organization by providing financial projections and accounting services, preparing growth plans, and directing staff.
  • Directs preparation of fiscal records and financial plans, policies, and reports.
  • Ensures with our Controller that all accounting transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintains a system of internal accounting controls; Directs oversight of audits.
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Uses data analysis to strategically forecast financial trends
  • Analyzes and interprets financial data and present the information with reports and presentations to the CEO, CFO and board of directors
  • Assesses, manages, and minimizes risk.
  • Analyzes complex financial data in order to determine strategy and approach to organizational improvements.

Strategic, Financial and Operational Planning

  • Participates in the development of the companies’ plans and programs by designing systems, accumulating resources, resolving problems, and implementing change necessary to achieve strategic goals.
  • Develops and communicates financial vision and strategy.
  • Directs preparation of annual operating and business fiscal plans (budgets).
  • Develops financial forecasts and monitors financial health, monitoring guardrails around financial commitments.
  • Works with the business units to optimize business performance and planning.
  • Provides strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization.
  • Ensures timely and accurate business/financial reports and plans.

Treasury and Tax

  • Manages treasury function, including meeting short and long-term funding needs.
  • Overview processing of tax filings in all 50 states for multiple entities
  • Determines appropriate capital structure.
  • Develops, implements and manages system ensuring complete sales tax compliance.

Leadership and Departmental Oversight

  • Manages the Accounting and Payroll functions with our Controller, including hiring/onboarding new employees, assessing performance and developing skill sets
  • Provides strategic recommendations to the CEO/CFO and other members of the executive management team

External Financial Relations

  • Manages A/R, A/P relationships with third party vendors and customers
  • Oversees and delivers recommendations to Board and Board committees regarding financials, audit matters, investments, and strategic initiatives and direction.
  • Directs and monitors all financial activity of the organization
  • Assist HR in ensuring Worker’s Compensation and Business line policies are funded and correctly audited
  • Coordination with HR as part of the oversight committee of the companies’ 401(k) plans

Director of Finance Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years accounting experience. Proven work experience as Accounting Department leader
  • Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated experience for delivering process improvement results
  • Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data
  • Previous experience with Intacct Software preferred
  • Financial management experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy with strong proficiency in Excel, Word and ERPs.
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills
  • Accounting certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) is a plus
