Position: Director of Drug Information and Assistant/Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
This is a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty position, with primary teaching responsibilities in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Program and administrative responsibilities in Manchester University’s Drug Information Center located on our Fort Wayne Campus. Faculty rank – whether assistant or associate professor – is dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Primary responsibilities include preparing students to become competent and responsible pharmacy practitioners through didactic and experiential teaching, clinical practice in the Drug Information Center that generates scholarly outcomes, providing service to the College, University and the profession of pharmacy, and serving as a role model for students in the formation of their professional identity.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Create, manage, and deliver instruction in the PharmD curriculum in required and perhaps elective courses.
  • Assess teaching effectiveness for student learning, both in the classroom and at the designated practice site (i.e., the Drug Information Center).
  • Develop and maintain an innovative and transformational clinical practice in drug information; precept students completing Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences in drug information and develop a program of research/scholarship in drug information as evidenced by professional presentations, publications and/or grants.
  • Collaborate with faculty colleagues to continuously refine and improve the PharmD curriculum, including creating, developing, and evaluating innovative teaching methods which prepare students for modern pharmacy practice.
  • Participate in faculty governance, serve as a productive member on institutional committees as assigned/elected, contribute to program accreditation, and participate fully in the co-curricular activities within the PharmD Program.
  • Evaluate and lead development of drug information services consistent with the PharmD Program’s strategic goals and programmatic budget.
  • Participate in community service activities as appropriate for the faculty’s area of practice, or as determined by the College or University.
  • Serve on the College Library and Information Resources Committee.
  • Develop visibility as a drug information expert within local, state, and national organizations.
  • Provide academic advising/mentoring for PharmD students and support their personal and professional development.
  • Coordinate Drug Information Center services and operations, including management of the center’s annual operating budget.
  • Collaborate with the Funderburg Library team to maintain information resources that support faculty scholarship, teaching, and/or service; student learning; and, operations for the Drug Information Center.
  • As appropriate, mentor and collaborate with other scholars both inside and outside the institution.

Qualifications:
  • A commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited college/school of pharmacy.
  • Two years of post-graduate training or equivalent experience is strongly preferred, particularly successful completion of a PGY2 residency or fellowship in drug information.
  • Record of scholarly activity desired.
  • Must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Indiana.
  • Previous academic experience of at least 3 years is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the value of intellectual and cultural diversity.
  • Must be able to consistently present a positive attitude and contribute to a harmonious team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Outstanding clinical and leadership skills.
  • Strong commitment to interprofessional education in the health sciences.
  • Ability to foster collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives with health professions colleagues in Northeast Indiana.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, in the best interests of students, possess a style that emphasizes openness, consultation and shared governance.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and respond to students’ legitimate needs in a timely fashion.
  • Strong desire to contribute to the growth and development of the PharmD and other health sciences programs in a progressive, thoughtful, and enthusiastic manner.
  • Professional appearance and the ability to interact effectively with persons at all organizational levels are essential.
  • Must be highly self-directed, well organized, detail oriented, and comfortable completing tasks with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Must be able to adhere to and maintain confidentiality as required by the institution and laws governing education and patient care.
  • Must be able to consistently present a positive attitude and contribute to a harmonious team environment.

Work Schedule:
Full time, 12 month, exempt, faculty position with a weekly work schedule that will regularly exceed 40 hours and often include evening and weekend responsibilities as well as occasional travel.
