Job Description
The primary role of this position is to plan, coordinate and oversee new student recruitment functions, in compliance with the statewide of the Vice President of Student Recruitment, this position will manage local staff as well as have system wide responsibilities. Duties include but not limited to: plan, coordinate and execute local recruitment strategies; ensure that the statewide recruitment plan and policies are implemented and enforced; monitor and evaluate the activities within the local department office; develop strong partnerships/alliances within the college community, academic departments and external offices, agencies and educational institutions. This position requires up to 30% overnight travel.
Essential Functions
  • Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
  • Plan, develop, organize, coordinate, implement, direct and evaluate the student recruitment, campus tour and student ambassador programs. Charged with developing, implementing and overseeing a regional student recruitment team inclusive of all assigned locations or regions.
  • Provide leadership and oversight in college outreach services including services to local high schools, local community, and regional partners.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow TSTC Student Recruitment Leads to develop, implement, and evaluate the statewide Student Recruitment Strategic Plan. Assist in training recruitment staff as needed regardless of location.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing Division, TSTC faculty and staff, and various departments across the College to develop and implement recruitment and communication strategies to increase student enrollment.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate professional and student staff.
  • Develop and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies and increase student enrollment, create on demand reports for leadership. Full knowledge of Salesforce/TargetX, Tableau Server, Cisco WebEx and Colleague.
  • Create and monitor departmental budgets.
  • Create and manage calendar of events as needed for the assigned campus or region for the academic year this could include - setting dates for Experience TSTC, Spring Preview, large group visits, and overnight high school tours.
  • Create mailing lists for Spring Preview, work with faculty, food service and student activities to ensure the event is a success.
  • Participate or lead state wide efforts to include data collection, coordination of activities, meeting facilitation and /or implementation of recruiting projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college or university.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in higher education, student recruitment, admissions, advising or a related field. Two to five years supervisory experience at the post-secondary level. Supervisory, leadership, and human resources experience to hire and oversee professional and student staff, Conduct in-service training, and implement policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of current student recruitment practices and assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of student recruitment, admissions, student programs and campus visit trends.
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate the delivery of outreach services to students.
  • Knowledge of public information, public speaking, community relations, and marketing principles and practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the analytical skills necessary for report writing, development of recruitment and materials, and to conduct presentations.
  • Possession of organizational skills to establish priorities, delegate workload, and manage multiple activities to meet departmental goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to build cooperative working relationships with the College Community, high school counselors and administrators, students, parents, and the public.
  • Event planning and management experience.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating grant or state funded student programs.
  • Computer fluency, including administrative software, reporting tools and
  • communication software.
