Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Environmental Services team is seeking a Deputy Project Manager for a variety of hydroelectric relicensing, compliance, and decommissioning projects in Central and Northern California.

As a Deputy Project Manager, you will provide support to Project Managers on one or more hydroelectric projects. This will allow huge growth potential as you will be exposed to clients, our hydroelectric licensing team members, subject matter experts, program and project management processes, and strong project leaders. You will have the support and mentorship of our leadership team. You will need to be detail-oriented, organized, dependable, resourceful, and able to perform well under the pressure of deadlines.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform project management activities as assigned by and in support of Project Managers
  • Conduct budget and schedule management
  • Assist Project Managers to ensure project tasks are completed within the scope of the approved contract
  • Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors; and confirm contractual compliance for invoicing inclusion
  • Deliver day-to-day project tracking and communication with the project management team
  • Develop, track, update, forecast, and modify the project schedule and budget throughout the phases of the project
  • Coordinate with project support team to develop short and long-term contracts with subcontractors for supporting tasks
  • File organization
  • Monitor project timesheets
  • Review all invoices and change orders associated with the projects
  • Ensure compliance with company and industry-standard safety protocols through safety plan development and implementation

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 7 to 10 years of project management or deputy project management experience on similar types of projects
  • Previous project controls experience, preferably for environmental consulting, planning or engineering
  • Previous experience with hydroelectric licensing projects or programs is a plus
  • Strong computer skills and experience and literacy in scheduling and project budgeting, and financial forecasting
  • Excellent Word and Excel skills
  • Detail-oriented; organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Desire to learn and ability to adapt to changing needs
  • Self-starter
  • Ability to work with staff of diverse leadership styles and professional backgrounds
  • Ability to operate in a fast-changing environment

Salary Range(s):

  • $52.88 Per Hour - $79.33 Per hour (CA, CO locations only)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
