Deli / Bakery Clerk Job Description

Essential Functions
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner, displaying a positive attitude, speaking highly of the company in the presence of customers and other employees
- Follow established Personal Appearance policies and guidelines
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Understand and adhere to the shrink guidelines
- Understand and adhere to policies and procedures pertaining to sanitation
- Understand and adhere to policies and procedures pertaining to temperature logs
- Understand and adhere to policies and procedures pertaining to product dating and rotating
- Prepare and display food

- Slice, pour, or dip food into containers, then weigh and attach proper price labels
(Only Deli Clerks 18 years of age may use motorized equipment such as slicers, dicers and mixers)
- Prepare meats and vegetables for cooking and operate various types of mixing, frying and baking equipment
- Bring containers of food products from the stock room and load them onto carts
- Place product and supplies in proper storage areas
- Operate a register and transact sales properly
- Sweep and mop the deli floors
- Wash and sanitize cookware according to procedures required by the local
Health Department
- Unload food and other deli inventory in the receiving area and move it to the proper storage areas
- Maintain the coffee and soft drink dispensers
- Carry trash to the dumpster
- Operate the box bailer (must be at least 18 years of age)
- Assist in preparing for and conducting inventory
The Deli Clerk may be assigned to perform other tasks in addition to those discussed above.
