ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves, and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing, and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.

We are accepting applications for an intermittent Custodial Worker located at John Bryan State Park, headquartered in Greene county. The address is 3790 St. Rt. 370, Yellow Springs, OH 45387.

Position Description: The Custodial Worker is responsible for keeping Ohio State parks clean and safe for guests.

The Custodial Worker performs various housekeeping duties (e.g., dusts, mops, sweeps, buffs and waxes floors, scrubs sinks, toilets, countertops, walls and ceilings, dusts and cleans furniture and equipment, removes cobwebs, empties trash, washes windows and walls, polishes mirrors and glass, vacuums and shampoos carpet, changes linens, replenishes soap, paper towels and toilet paper, applies cleaning chemicals, secures/locks doors and windows) in all areas of the park including: restrooms, offices, shower houses, shelters, cabins, supply and linen rooms, and laundry facilities.

They may also sweep dirt and debris from exterior walkways and steps, remove litter from grounds, replace light bulbs, remove debris from building exteriors (e.g., leaves, rocks), perform minor groundskeeping duties (e.g., leaf blowing, mow/trim grass, trims bushes, plants flowers), clean charcoal grills and picnic tables.

Equipment Operations: mop/bucket, broom, vacuum, floor buffer, carpet cleaner, steamer

Unusual Working Conditions: Exposed to chemicals in cleaning products; may be exposed to unpleasant weather conditions; may work evenings; may be exposed to dangerous consumers, residents or youth; may be required to work weekends &/or flexible hours.

Preferred Qualifications: Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading & speaking common English vocabulary. In accordance with Section 124.11(B)(2), revised code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination.
