Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Career Development, the Coordinator for Career Development will support projects, services and administrative functions within the department. The Coordinator will perform customer service tasks, including scheduling appointments, responding to student and employer inquiries, overseeing technology used by students, alumni and employers, create marketing for programs and events and handle purchasing and reporting for department.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Perform customer engagement tasks by serving as the as first point of contact for the Career Center. Schedule appointments, answer phone, identify student, faculty, alumni, and employer needs and direct them accordingly. Manage and process room reservations, facility requests, technology setup, and catering. Order office supplies and presentation materials when needed. Track and monitor payments and expenses. Support projects, services and departmental initiatives and programming.

2. Manage the daily operations of the department’s career service management system (CSM), Handshake to ensure a positive experience for all constituents – students, alumni, employers, and staff. Monitor weekly system updates and remain abreast of system practices. Support the Career Center’s website, social media presence, and all online tools such as Firsthand, StandOut, Quadjobs, Focus II, Blackboard, and Qualtrics. Promote and encourage engagement with all online career resources and tools to students, alumni, and employers. Generate monthly system reports that capture student utilization, communication and outreach efforts, as well as employer activity.


3. Manage the Career Center’s communication plan to promote career programs and initiatives. Send weekly email highlighting curated jobs and internships in Handshake to students and to academic departments. Create marketing content for social media accounts and prepare print publications that include promotional materials (i.e.flyers, posters, brochures), instructional materials (i.e. career guides, PowerPoints) and departmental reports (i.e. monthly, mid-year and end of year reports). Remain current on outreach strategies to increase student engagement with the Career Center.


4. Provide administrative support to the Director of Career Development and the AVP for special projects, divisional events, student leadership training, and the implementation of career readiness programming across the division and the University.
