CNB is looking for a qualified, motivated, and client- and team-focused individual to join our team as a Consumer Lender in our Hillsdale Office.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides services to clients and prospective clients seeking consumer loans. Explains lending program options and policies, accepts and processes loan applications. Approves/rejects loans within lending authority, recommends approval above lending authority. May work with HELOC, mortgage, indirect and installment loans. Provides training and support to bank staff on loan software and loan policies and procedures.


DUTIES

  • Meets with clients and prospective borrowers, assisting them with consumer loan applications and processes, explaining the products and guidelines.
  • Reviews and analyzes credit and financial data to assist the borrower(s) with financial objectives and goals.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and approves or denies Indirect applications.
  • Obtains all signed disclosures and loan documentation as required in order to deliver a complete package to the Loan Processors in a timely manner.
  • Manages and maintains portfolio past due activity (in cooperation with Loss Mitigation) and maturing loans.
  • Assists Branch Managers by answering questions and approving loans.
  • Answers internal and external telephone calls, responding to clients and staff in a timely manner.
  • Maintains current and thorough knowledge of all lending programs, policies and procedures.
  • Stays abreast of competition products and pricing.
  • Visits Indirect partners.
  • Calls on centers of influence and businesses that may refer clients to CNB.
  • Identifies appropriate opportunities to cross-sell additional bank products.
  • Assists with real estate loans in non-accrual status.
  • Assists with the annual high-risk HELOC reviews.
  • Performs denial reviews for assigned lenders.
  • Provides training for new users of lending software.
  • Provides training to new consumer loan and branch staff concerning consumer lending policies and procedures.
  • Seeks solutions to create efficiencies, improve products and increase revenue.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of all State and Federal regulatory requirements (include Bank Secrecy Act) specific to this position by remaining current in assigned training and continuing education (online, video, in-house emails, telephone seminars, etc.).
  • Maintains and protects confidentiality of client information.
  • Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum of Associate’s degree in Business/Finance; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Minimum of three years banking experience.
  • Solid knowledge of lending policies and procedures.
  • Strong sales initiative to develop and secure relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Passion for providing a stellar customer service experience to all clients (external and internal) and ability to instill this passion in others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (tactfulness, cooperation, courteousness and customer friendliness) are necessary to represent the bank in a positive manner.
  • Positive and cooperative approach when working with others.
  • Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and effectively, with attention to detail for visually appealing output and accurately proofreading publications.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively present information to customers and management.
  • Strong administrative skills with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve targets/goals.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from clients, or members of the business community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to cope with pressure resulting from dealing with impatient and sometimes irate clients.
  • Strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office.
