About the Position

Specialty Systems, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Software Configuration Management Specialist with the below described skills and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. In this position, you will have a high profile role within the software configuration management team supporting the development and on-going in-service engineering support of unique Department of Defense systems. Ideal candidates will have a broad set of technical skills and must be able to work both individually and within a team environment. As a member of our team you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers’ systems that have a direct impact on our country’s war-fighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9 hour days (M-Th) and an 8 hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9 hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3 day weekend every other week!

Job responsibilities will include:

§ Perform all configuration management functions related to the software maintenance, software build procedures, and enhancement of the assigned software products.

§ Use of Software Configuration Management (SCM) tool suites such as Atlassian for team collaboration, bug tracking, software code management, pipeline development, code integration and release management (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, and Bamboo). Additional tool suites/tools will also be considered.

§ Design and develop software build procedures, scripts, and release procedures.

§ Prepare software documentation, perform software quality assurance, identify process improvements, participating in software code reviews, support and perform troubleshooting issues utilizing relevant Configuration Management tools.

§ Perform software builds and prepare software releases.

§ Prepare briefings on work and findings as well as briefing leadership on status and progress.

§ Develop Software Version Description documents.

§ Train new software engineers on the use of SCM tools

Position Qualification Requirements:

Education, Certifications and Years of Experience:

  • A BS/BA in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
  • Must have at least 5 years experience involved in software engineering, with 3 years performing the configuration management functions similar to those listed above. It is preferred that at least 1 year of this experience be on Department of Defense systems.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the CompTIA Security+ CE or CISSP certification. Candidates without one of these certifications will be considered, however, there will be a requirement to obtain this certification within 6 months of starting employment with us.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with an active security clearance at the Secret level or better. Candidates without a security clearance will be considered, however, this may delay the ability to actually begin employment with us.

Technical:

  • Advanced experience with more than one of the following; Jira, Confluence/Wiki, Git/Bitbucket, Bamboo, ClearCase, Dimensions, Team Foundation Server, Forge, Jenkins, Maven, and Nexus is required.
  • Experienced working with software development teams to define code management, build management, and release management processes.
  • Experience with databases, builds and patches for software development and fielding is desired.
  • Technical experience with multiple operating systems; i.e. Linux and Windows, is a plus.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools; Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project, etc.
  • Knowledge of techniques, procedures and processes such as operating system theory, data structures, computer system, software engineering and computer communications to use in the development of software systems is desired.
  • Experience performing configuration management functions under multiple software development life cycles such as Agile and Waterfall is desired.

Salary Range

This position has a salary range of between $90,000 and $125,000, based on the candidate's match to the skill and experience levels required.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel may be required. Trips are generally 3 to 5 days in length. .
