SUMMARY

Administers and implements Viejas' compensation policies and programs with the direction of the Total Rewards Manager. Coaches and consults with Line Management on Viejas’ compensation philosophy and strategy. Performs job audits, writes job descriptions, and makes recommendations for appropriate salary grades/ranges for jobs. Maintains up to date org charts. Develops and maintains analytical and informational reports in various software programs for use by Human Resources Department team members and department leaders. Participates in salary surveys and analyzes survey data. Serves as member of Viejas Compensation Committee.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Administers and implements Viejas' compensation policies and programs.
  • Performs job audits, writes job descriptions, and makes recommendations for appropriate salary grades/ranges for jobs.
  • Partners with departmental leaders, and HRIS Specialist to identify, develop and maintain metrics, analytical and informational reports, and the tools used to administer Viejas’ compensation program.
  • Participates in salary surveys and analyzes survey data, alerting Total Rewards Manager of high-risk discrepancies.
  • Performs cost analysis for increases in salary ranges and pay rates. Also performs analysis of Compensation Ratios and advises leaders on Viejas Compensation philosophy/strategy as well as any additional considerations /measurement used when determining appropriateness of increases.
  • Updates and maintains up to date document of all positions, grade levels and ranges.
  • Assists in the development of new/revised compensation programs as requested.
  • Performs and participates in special projects as assigned.
  • Acts with discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive material. Required to sign and adhere to confidentiality agreement.
  • Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.

Required Skills


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or team members of organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Intermediate mathematical skills, such as the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Required Experience


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related area and 2 or more years of experience in compensation or the equivalent in education/experience.
  • Ability to train and coach managers at all levels within an organization.
  • Experience with the use of Comp-Ratios as a tool for measuring pay and performance.
  • Experience working within and HRIS. Lawson and/or Abra experience a plus.
  • Experience working with a report-writer software program. Crystal Reporting experience a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs, with advanced skills using Excel.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Bilingual preferred.
  • Detail oriented and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
