About us

Saticoy Food Hub is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to creating equitable economic opportunities for community members, while providing access to fresh, local and affordable food for the community. The organization was started with the help of the Social Justice Fund for Ventura County in November 2021 and the Board of Directors was assembled in December 2021. Saticoy Food Hub has a clan culture rooted in empowerment and collaboration, allowing candidates the ability to be creative, resourceful, and leave a meaningful impact on the organization. Saticoy Food Hub partners with AmeriCorps VISTA and Hunger Free America. AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), an independent federal agency whose mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering. Founded in 1965, Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) is an anti-poverty program within AmeriCorps designed to provide needed resources to nonprofit organizations and public agencies to increase their capacity to lift communities out of poverty. The power of AmeriCorps VISTA is extraordinary, and brings talented, passionate people on board to create or enhance anti-poverty programs by expanding the capacity of our organization.

Hunger Free America places AmeriCorps VISTA members with anti-hunger nonprofit organizations to increase their capacity and ability to create sustainable solutions to help food insecure households achieve self-sufficiency and create plans to bridge the gaps between access and those who need assistance, including seniors, working families and Spanish-speaking groups. Since beginning in 2011, Hunger Free America's AmeriCorps VISTA members have assisted over 100 community-based organizations in 38 states and the District of Columbia. They currently have more than 80 year-long members serving at 50 partner organizations in 16 states.

Summary

Saticoy Food Hub is searching for an individual dedicated to working in solidarity alongside the community of Saticoy and its surrounding area. This role is critical in building the capacity of the organization through ongoing trainings and recruitment of volunteers, conceptualizing written operational guidelines, and organizational sustainability through marketing. The position will work within the clan culture of Saticoy Food Hub and deeply understand the values of the organization. This is foundational for the development of our presence across platforms and within the community. The ideal candidate should be proficient in engaging community members through a wide variety of social media, direct outreach, and marketing. The Community Engagement Coordinator will oversee a team of interns tasked with public relations.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and supervise marketing volunteers and their campaigns.
• Coordinate volunteer recruitment and establish all training material.
• Engage community members through forms of outreach.
• Builds partnerships between educational institutions and sponsoring organizations to open up new pathways for growth and success.
• Support fund development responsibilities: researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to increase organizational budget as well as creating and executing fundraising strategies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Preferred)
• 1-year commitment
• Knowledge of community organizing, food and nutrition benefits programs, and marketing
• Experience supervising others
• Ability to balance multiple long-term projects
• Patience, curiosity, and a sense of humor

Pay: $22,000.00 - $23,000.00 per year
