POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting AtlantiCare's marketing and communications efforts. The primary function of the role will be developing content for internal AtlantiCare audiences, including staff, physicians, Board members, volunteers, etc. They will also support communication needs of senior leaders.
The Communications Specialist will work closely with the Director of Corporate Communications to create and deploy strategic messages, deliver news and information and ensure that the team is effectively leveraging different elements of an internal channel strategy (including the intranet, any internal publications, video productions and executive communications) to promote AtlantiCare programs and services.
The role will be responsible for researching, writing, editing and optimizing content in a variety of formats, and will work within the frameworks set by the Department Leadership. This position is responsible for supporting other marketing and communication efforts including, but not limited to, coverage of special events and corporate functions (photography, video, etc.), media relations, on-call rotation and community sponsorships/relations.
The Communications Specialist must have basic technical knowledge of audio/video production, and have the ability to record, edit and upload content. This position will be responsible for coordinating and managing short-form video production including but not limited to patient testimonials, video messages from senior leaders, video montages, and more. This role will be the liaison to audio/video vendors to provide creative input and guidance while ensuring projects are completed on-schedule.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required; degree in communications, public relations or journalism preferred
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid driver's license and requires insurability through AtlantiCare Fleet Policy and provisions. Certificate in Principles of Public Relations or similar certificate or accreditation preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years prior experience in journalism and/or public relations required.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required; bilingual abilities preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires some walking/standing and may have prolonged periods of sitting. Works with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, printer, telephone and copier. Position requires some travel, flexibility of hours including weekends, evenings and on-call coverage as well as lifting up to 20 lbs. Essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

This position reports to department leadership.
