The Student Health Care Center (SHCC) at The University of Florida within the Department of Community Health and Family Medicine (CHFM) is seeking a Clinical Services Representative II to provide patient centered service in a medical office setting by reviewing and updating patient information, scheduling patient appointments, maintaining a comfortable wait experience for patients and provides a positive first impression during the scheduling, check-in and check-out process. This position will work primarily at the main SHCC but may be required to float to other areas within SHCC, as needed, for staffing shortages.

Scheduling:

  • Schedule patient appointments, tests, procedures, and minor surgeries in person, by telephone and/or via MyChart inquiries.
  • Responsible for reviewing and updating patient account detail, entering and verifying insurance.
  • Triage all incoming calls to the clinic, forward calls, and consult or defer medical questions/advice to appropriate clinical staff.
  • Work effectively with a wide range of students whose needs may be difficult to assess on initial contact.

Check-in and Check-out Patients:

  • Greets patients and visitors warmly, professionally and provides a patient friendly point of entry and exit.
  • Obtain all health history, physical forms, consent forms, copies of identification/ insurance cards and other required documentation during the check-in and check-out process.
  • Verify student status/eligibility for services and select appropriate guarantor for appointment.
  • Ensures scanning of paper documents in EPIC are properly completed, labeled, and placed in the correct tab of the patient EMR.

Administrative Support:

  • Processes incoming mail, coordinates ordering of office supplies, and assist with maintaining adequate inventory levels in the clinic.
  • Manages in-basket pools, resolution of front-end edits, rejections, and information requests within targeted time frame.
  • Troubleshoots patient care issues Works with referral coordinator to ensure patients schedule with medical specialists at UF Health and in the community.
  • Provides coverage in other medical team areas (as necessary). Perform other duties as required to support the overall mission of the department.

Typical schedule: Monday through Friday, 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM (08:00 AM to 04:30 PM during summer and break weeks). 40 hours per week. Hours and days may vary due to the needs of the SHCC. Clinic work locations may vary from UF Vet Hospital, Santa Fe College, and Student Health Care Center on campus as needed.

Expected Salary:

The salary range is between $ $18.00-19.25 per hour and is commensurate with skills and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant office experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute an equivalent rate for the required experience.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to adhere to high standards of customer service as the position is extensively telephone and face to face interaction with patients, health care providers, and staff from various SHCC offices.
  • Possess excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be comfortable discussing personal health information in a confidential, professional manner.
  • Business or healthcare-related practice experience.
  • The ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, problem solve and function in a team environment.
  • EPIC system knowledge
  • CPT and diagnosis coding
  • Ability to adhere to UF and UF Health policy. Completion of required annual trainings including but not limited to: HIPAA, FERPA, Red Flags, Handling SSN, Billing Compliance
