Summary of Performance Expectations:
Performs specimen processing. Prepares samples for analysis and to be sent to reference laboratories. May perform waived and moderate complexity testing, as designated by the laboratory Director, with technical supervision, including microbiology set up. Will also follow procedural guidelines for quality control monitoring and reporting of patient results. Demonstrates knowledge of test procedures, equipment, and computer skills. Effective, professional, courteous, informative communication skills; follows safety guidelines. Assists with training as appropriate. Ensures adherence to the Corporate Compliance Program. Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Credentials:
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent. Obtain ASCP certification MLA (ASCP) within three year of employment or placement into position.
Preferred:
Associate degree in a biological science.
Work Experience:
Required:
Medical terminology and familiarity with laboratory. Incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
Preferred:
Experience in medical field.
