Annual Salary: $35,984.00 to $53,539.20

Schedule

  • Full Time, 100%, 40 hours per week
  • Monday-Fri Noon-8:30pm
  • Additional hours as needed. Must work some UIHC holidays.

This position is eligible to participate in remote work. Remote work must be performed at an offsite location within the State of Iowa. Training will be held ONSITE at the Health Care Support Services (HSSB) building at a length determined by the supervisor. Remote eligibility will be evaluated upon a satisfactory job training and meeting required performance standards. Successful candidates must comply with requirements of the remote work program and related policies.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Respond to emergency requests for release of medical information from outside entities by understanding the type of medical information requested and identifying the appropriate material to satisfy the requests.
  • Process routine release of information requests via the on-line Release of Information Tracking System.
  • Process inbound fax information.
  • Scan and upload internal and external documents; QA of scanned internal and external documents.
  • May be required to retrieve and deliver medical records throughout UIHC complex for emergency or planned patient care requests and scan barcoded records to update location via the on-line Medical Record Tracking System.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, meet University of Iowa Fleet Safety requirements and be able to drive vehicle between HSSB, clinic locations and hospital(s).

As part of performing the key areas of responsibility and competencies described above, staff members are expected to meet reasonable standards of work quality and quantity, as well as expectations for attendance established by their supervisor. Staff members are also expected to comply with policies governing employee responsibilities and conduct, including those contained in the University Operations Manual.

Qualifications

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to two years of full-time employment.

Special Qualifications

  • Medical Terminology
  • Experience with PC Spreadsheet and Word Processing
  • Must possess valid U.S. motor vehicle operator’s license and must meet University of Iowa Fleet Safety requirement standards

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prefer Release of Information experience
  • Prefer Epic Release of Information System and Epic Medical Record Tracking System experience
  • Prefer ability to communicate efficiently and effectively in person, by phone or electronically. Prefer ability to work independently and as a team.
