POSITION SUMMARY


This position is a grant-funded within the Behavioral Health Department of the Shingle Springs Health and Wellness Center. This position will be responsible for overseeing the Circles of Care Project for the Clinic, and will provide leadership, supervision and guidance to the project team in addition to developing innovative methods of delivering impactful services to patients and the community. This position reports directly to the Behavioral Health Director.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Conduct mental health education for the community and agency staff.
  • Consult with other staff on mental health issues, including participation in case management meetings.
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with community agencies in coordination with services provided.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Update education through courses, workshops and professional literature as it relates to psychotherapy, particularly in its application to Native Americans and other special populations.
  • Document monthly reports and all other reports an appropriate.
  • Develop innovative methods of delivery of services based on cultural perspective.
  • Supervise Circles of Care project staff.
  • With support of project staff and the Family Support Coordinator, researches and drafts the project’s Strategic Plan, Circles of Care Handbook, and Final Report.
  • Perform other program related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, or related field; two (2) years’ experience working in Behavioral Health Counseling Program or Health Planning/Administration or any combination of education and work experience that meets the competency and skills needed.
  • Experience working in a therapeutic setting with adults, adolescents and children.
  • Ability to attend meetings and represent the SSHWC Behavioral Health Department both on and off site.
  • Must be willing to travel to conferences, meetings, and seminars as needed.
  • Effective and efficient leadership, organization, facilitation and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Northern California Native American Cultures.
  • Knowledge of statistics, data collection, analysis and data presentation skills.
  • Must be able to empathize, willingness to understand, and have knowledge of the Native American culture.

DRUG SCREEN

Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians requires the successful completion of a drug screening of all potential Tribal employees prior to being hired. The Tribe recognizes that the State of California has legalized the use of marijuana. The Tribe is located on federally owned trust land and complies with federal laws. Therefore, marijuana use is prohibited, and all drug tests will include a screening for THC.


Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians recognizes a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy, and employees will be required to sign a Consent to Drug and/or Alcohol Testing. Employees may be selected for alcohol / drug testing upon reasonable suspicion, and upon any/all accidents.

Candidates for this position will be subject to criminal and character background checks and fingerprinting prior to being hired. Verification of previous employment and education will also be conducted after the interview if an offer of employment is being considered.

Preference in hiring is given to the most qualified applicant. This means that if the qualifications of the best candidates are comparable, the Native American candidate is given preference. The following order of preference shall be adhered to when hiring: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians members; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court or the State of California) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; 3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; 4) All other documented Native Americans; 5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Indian preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
