Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the Chief of Police for all University campuses. The qualified candidate will oversee all aspects of campus safety and administer all applicable security policies and procedures; ensure University compliance with federal, state, city, and county security requirements and reporting procedures; and safeguard all classified and confidential information related to campus security. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ.

This is a full-time (40+ hours), 12-month position. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.

Summary of Duties:

• Develop and implement security policies and procedures in accordance with university guidelines and local, state, and federal regulations
• Collaborate with various government agencies such as City Police, City Fire Department, County Sheriff and State Law Enforcement
• Responsible for ensuring the coordination of a schedule for 24-hour security coverage for the main campus, and limited hours at extended campuses
• Participate in shift security coverage for main campus; provide security for campus events
• Supervise and direct security measures for all on-campus and university properties for Montgomery, Huntsville, Birmingham and Mobile locations on a regular basis and off-campus events when needed
• Maintain electronic and written documentation of all safety and security activities
• Supervise daily activities and performance of department staff
• Provide fiscal budget controls for the Campus Safety department

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred
• A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in law enforcement at the rank of Lieutenant or above required
• Must be currently APOST certified to practice law enforcement in the state of Alabama
• Active member of the church of Christ preferred
