Summary: Plans and directs accounting activities within Accounting Department by performing the following duties, personally or through supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. This list is subject to individual facility policies, procedures and practices, which may require additional duties and responsibilities

· Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll

· Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports

· Directs the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures

· Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records

· Directs and participates in cost analyses and rate studies

· Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues

· Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls

· Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems

· Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting

· Reviews financial statements with management personnel

· Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax returns

· Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls

Education/Experience:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane, and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, accounting software, payroll systems and experience with the internet and email.
