ABOUT THIS ROLE

At Red Mountain (Mesa, AZ) & Four Corners (Queen Creek, AZ) Compounding Pharmacies, we strive to offer quality sterile and non-sterile compounded medications for our patients. This position will be primarily based at Four Corners in Queen Creek and be focused on the preparation of non-sterile compounded medications. This role requires diligence, attention to detail, superior organization skills and continuous professional development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Engage with patients in person and by phone to manage refill requests and verify required information.
  • Ability to perform drug calculations and interpret prescriptions
  • Prepare and compound non-sterile products. Prepare, label, compound, mix, set up for delivery and record lot number, batch number and expiration dates.
  • Ensure compounding areas and all related equipment are cleaned, sanitized, inspected, and maintained in compliance with company, state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate and schedule all preparations with the assistance of the pharmacist. Complete all calculations on product preparation and obtain validation from the pharmacist before compounding.
  • Adhere to all necessary certifications and accreditations according to USP 795 and 800 requirements.
  • Maintain calibration and proper documentation of scales and other equipment.
  • Document quality procedures in the appropriate logs. Perform continuous quality assurance checks on compounds.
  • Follow all safety training of handling hazardous substances. Ensure inventory is properly handled and stored. Monitor inventory levels and report any variances or low inventory to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Participate in regular audits and inspections.
  • Complete compounding continuous education responsibilities.
  • Participate in any department meeting and quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain all necessary certifications as well as obtain any new accreditations necessary per RMCP, state and federal regulations. Understand medical terminology and pharmacy calculations.
  • Work efficiently in a timely manner while ensuring standards of accuracy and potency are always met.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Full Time: 40 hours per week
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Certified pharmacy technician in the state of Arizona
  • Minimum 2 years non-sterile compounding experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Willing to undergo a background check and random drug testing
  • Must be capable of donning the appropriate personal protective equipment as required per procedure and medication handled.
  • Must be capable of working with very sensitive equipment to complete appropriate dosage form.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Willing to travel to sister location (Red Mountain Compounding Pharmacy in Mesa, AZ)
