What do I need as a Certified Medication Aide with McGregor?

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one (1) year health care industry experience.
• Medication Aide Certification

What will I do as a Certified Medication Aide with McGregor?

• Administer medication only at the delegation of a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) acting at the direction of an RN may delegate administration.
• Administer medication after a Registered Nurse has completed a nursing assessment of the resident to whom the as-needed medication is needed.
• Administer the following types of prescription medications:
  • Oral medication
  • Topical medication
  • Medications administered as nasal spray, or as drops, or ointment to a resident's eye, ear or nose.
  • Rectal and vaginal medications.
  • Inhalants delivered by inhalers, nebulizers, or aerosols that allow for a single dose of a fixed, pre-measured medication.
• Deliver routine daily medications, either prescriptions or non-prescriptions to residents.
• Assist the Charge Nurse with supervision of the STNA's/Care Associate's.
• Follow the written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
• After administering medication, record medication dosages and times, route, date.
